Certification Tracking

Definition:

  • Required Certification
    • A certification that is required to both initiate employment with FTEMS and maintain ongoing employment at FTEMS.
  • Preferred Certification
    • A certification or continuing education requirement that is “preferred” by FTEMS at the time of hiring, however, is not required for hiring.
      • A “preferred” certification must at minimum be obtained shortly after being hired or at maximum be obtained prior to completion of the orientation process set forth under the “orientation policy”

Purpose:

To provide accountability for both the employees of FTEMS and the organization itself from a certification tracking standpoint.

Directive:

  1. Each employee, when hired, must submit a pre-selected allotment of “required” certifications and continuing education requirements determined by the education coordinator and management team
    1. These will be submitted to the designated education coordinator via email (Jordan Miller – [email protected])
  2. There shall be a list of both required certifications and “preferred” certifications
    1. An employee will not be hired unless all “required” certifications are submitted
    2. An employee will not be able to maintain employment unless all “preferred” certifications are submitted prior to completion of the orientation process.
  3. Employees are required to maintain valid expiration dates of FTEMS’ pre-determined certifications during employment with FTEMS.
  4. Each employee will be notified each month (via email) of their certifications’ expiration status that way the employee is given ample notification of when one of their certifications may be up for expiration soon
    1. Newly renewed certifications shall be submitted by the employee to the designated education coordinator via email (Jordan Miller – [email protected])
    2. If a certification does expire the employee will be given 7 days to submit a valid certification with a valid expiration date
    3. If an expired certification is not submitted in the specified timeframe, disciplinary action will be taken.
  5. From time to time, new certifications or continuing education courses may be requested for each employee to complete. When this occurs an adequate timeframe of completion will be provided.
    1. If a certification requested by the education coordinator or management team is not submitted in the specified timeframe, disciplinary action will be taken.
